Magnetic Unloader
solutions for heavy and damage-sensitive workpieces

NSM now offers two different concepts for taking metallic workpieces out of containers
for bulk materials, such as steel boxes or lattice boxes:

The conventional portal unloader, which can be utilised for workpieces weighing up to approx. 2 kg each,
and the new belt unloader, which has been specially developed for gentle workpiece handling
with high emptying performance.

Both systems are designed to be extremely space saving and by virtue of their independent
control function, they are also suitable for retrofitting in existing machines.

Functional principle of the portal unloader:

The bulk container is positioned with the help of a manual lifting trolley or
stacker on the floor under the magnetic unloader. The magnet dips into
the box at six defined positions. The contact of the magnet with the
workpiece is detected by a sensor. The magnet is switched on and raised
by the lifting mechanism to the required transfer height. The trolley moves
the magnet together with the attached cluster of workpieces and takes
them to the customer's handover position and released by switching off
the magnet.

Functional principle of the belt unloader:

The bulk container is placed by the operator into the take-up frame of a tilting
device. After confirmation, an angular magnetic conveyor belt then dips into
the box. Via the magnetic deflection roller on the conveyor head, the workpieces
are attracted and pulled off vertically upwards by the circulating belt by means
of integrated permanently magnetic adhesion strips. With progressive emptying
of the box, the tilting device assists the clustering of the bulk material and
makes possible, in combination with the automatically self-adapting conveyor
orientation, a system performance which is as homogeneous as possible
throughout the entire process.
After redirection onto the horizontal conveyor segment, the workpieces lie
chaotically distributed on the belt and are fed to the next process. With the
integrated demagnetising coil, undesired magnetising effects can be
neutralised in many cases already before passing the workpieces to the
subsequent processing line.
